I have an S&W M&P15 MOE and really like it.

I was thinking that for my next black rifle I would turn this:

    Into this: :rockwoot:

I will take an M&P15 OR and add the Magpul MOE and Troy upgrades to make my budget version of an M&P15 TS. (My barrel would only have 1/9 twist while the TS has a 1/7 twist, shorter barrel, and larger flash suppressor. so, I would not be doing any barrel or flash suppressor mods to keep costs down.)

    I have a couple questions:

How much would a gunsmith charge to modify/grind down/remove the FSB on the M&P15 OR to accomodate the 13" Troy TRX Extreme Handguard?

Which gunsmiths in Indy would you recommend?

    Thanks for your input!

    Very cool! Go for it!

The OR has a big chunky railed gas block, and I'd think it would require some MAJOR grinding to fit the Troy rail over it.

I would just replace it completely with a low-profile gas block. Several companies make them.

    AR-15, M16, M4, Gas Blocks

I dunno. Maybe convince someone to throw another AR build party and force another INGOer to do it. :D
