    You might be amused to look on p. 58 of the new July-August 2013 American Handgunner that recently hit shelves. (Viewable for free here: Digital Editions | American Handgunner .) Neil Keller's Kustom Ballistics makes a 1911 that doesn't look far off from that:

    Wow, I was familiar with Neil's work in the late 90's. This is certainly a departure from the firearms he was turning out then. I wonder what the added weight does for the overall operation of the gun?

    I don't know - the raised "rails" protecting the sights don't seem that thick. It's an interesting experiment - I'm not entirely sure it's necessary (and I certainly don't like the aesthetics of it), but it's neat to see a 'smith doing something a little out-of-the-box. :)

    Some people say the same thing about their Hi-point.

    I like how dependable a high point is nothing wrong with a 150 dollar gun that has a lifetime warranty that could almost go toe to toe with a glock
