I just bought a Remington 582 from a friend for my son for his birthday. If you can find one and like bolt action 22s I highly recommend them!

CAn I ask why you chose this one over a Marlin or another bolt 22?
I like Remington 22s, although I currently only own Rugers. However, I'll be looking at a bolt action 22 for my son eventually. Probably start out with a cricket 22 or t/c hotshot, but then a full size bolt or pump.

I've got a remington 581 not sure what the difference is between the two but I love it, super accurate, I can hit a piece of string tied in a branch about 30-35 yards out with my iron sights no problem
