Indianapolis - An Indianapolis man was arrested for allegedly shooting his stepson with a paintball gun.
Asagai Allen-Barton, 41, was arrested Wednesday morning after police responded to a report that he was shooting his 10-year-old stepson with the gun. Allen-Barton told the officers he just got done disciplining the boy for not doing his chores.
The man said he told the child to run around the cul de sac near their home as punishment, but the boy only ran for a few seconds. Allen-Barton yelled at him to start running, and the boy ran down the street to the bus stop. When Allen-Barton got the boy, he brought him into the back yard and told him to start running, but again, the boy would only run for a few seconds.
Allen-Barton said he then went inside and got his paintball gun and mask, put the mask on his stepson and told him to start running. When the boy did not run, Allen-Barton shot him with the paintball gun. The boy was struck in the arm, leg, stomach and back by several shots.
The boy's mother returned home from work and the boy and two other children were released to her custody.
Allen-Barton is facing felony charges of battery.
