welcome from south of the big crick just a reminder do not sell across state lines without involving an ffl in the transaction
Thank you. I am planning to go to Gander Mountain tomorrow. I am sure they will pay less than a private citizen, but I will feel better about the paper trail.

They will bend you over, I would not do that. I think you are worrying a little too much about it. In a private sale, if you try to copy someone's I.D. it will really make it hard to do a private sale. If you are really that worried about it, go to a local shop and sell them on consignment, you will get more and the new buyer will have to fill out the 4473 to buy, therefore transferring them out of your name.....although in IN guns are not registered we live in a "Free" state.

Doing a consignment will take longer than just selling them to Gander or a shop, unless just really need the money I would not t recommend doing that.
You will wait longer selling them on consignment, but you will get more out of them.

    BTW welcome to the Forum!

Consignment is the way to go, for sure. Unless you're desperate for funds you'll get a much better deal. Use gunbroker to get an idea of what you're guns usually bring. Tell your ffl what you need out of each gun and let him know if you have any wiggle room in the price. He'll mark them up from there to make a little money. When they sell he'll call you to come get your $.

Meet the buyer at and make the transfer through a local ffl. I have sold a couple of mine that way.
Almost forgot, hello and welcome from Dearborn County.
