We have achieved a great victory today against the gun grabers, but as another ingo member has noted the war will never be over. The gun grabbers will never stop coming. We need to keep introducing people to our world of responsible firearm ownership and fight for our rights. We need to show people that guns are not evil, join the NRA, join our state rifle and pistol associations, ALWAYS write and call our politicans, help each other as much as possible, act like good citizens, and most importantly go SHOOTING as often as we can :D. If we all did our part maybe we can abolish the part of the 86 bill banning the manufacturing of machine guns so I can get an actual AK-47 that hasn't been tore up and given a new receiver.
During the civil rights movement people of all races worked together to overturn racial laws that were against our nation's highest laws (the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights). Once a bill becomes law that doesn't mean it can't be repealed. The people who took place in the civil rights movement fought hard for many years and their valiant effort was met with great success. The racial laws were abolished and the country moved forward.
The gun grabbers launched their offensive and failed. I want to see our side come out with some positive legislation. Now is the time to start our gun rights movement. Let's introduce kids to shooting before they are taught to hate guns, lets make sure that people who shouldn't have guns don't get them, lets work as hard as we can until our rights are restored, and lets help move the country forwards.

I agree wholeheartedly that the war is not over. Just wining some battles. Never forget the Democrats want complete control, complete annihilation of the 2A, complete disarmament of the American people so they can institute a Socialist state and control the sheep.

As I doubt that we can get any positive legislation passed, now with the momentum going in our direction it just might be the time to try.

What are some ideas my fellow INGOers have of positive legislation?

OP hits it spot on. We need to go on the offensive and push for repeal of existing gun laws. We didn't win the battle. We just defended from an attack. We've been on the defensive for decades and are slowly losing ground. We have to push back. Even if the bills are shot down it will get the message out we aren't going to just play defense anymore. Let's repeal some laws people!

We didn't win, we fought to a draw.
Winning means we gain something we didn't have before.

The other side won't stop, we can't either. The stats are on our side. We use the stats to educate, set a good example when we carry, and keep reminding our elected officials that we vote.

Well, Repub control of the House is a vital, critical, necessity in 2014.

Not that the Repubs are worth the tp they wipe their arses with, but ANY party controlling the Executive branch and both houses of Congress is bad, bad news.

"That government is best which governs least", as Jefferson stated. Conflict, compromise, & stonewalling in the federal .gov is a blessing.

I'm still confused over Sandy HooK? Did that really happen or is it a hoax? I would really like to see the first five seconds of video of how that screwed up young boy entered that school (before he started shooting for real). No release of that video anytime soon..., it doesnt fit the liberal narrative. Unless our local politicians start asking I will continue to be confused...

Hopefully now that the kneejerk "we must pass something, anything" bills have all been defeated maybe, just maybe we can start to have a rational discussion about restoring the right to keep and bear arms back to what it should be.

Repealing of "gun free" aka Victim zones should be at the top of that discussion. As well as arming and training teachers and increasing resource officers in schools.

    One step ahead of you.
I became a certified NRA pistol instructor a few years ago. Two years ago I added the NRA "Refuse To Be a Victim" program.
Just over two years ago I started volunteering to teach the NSSF's (National Shooting Sports Foundation) "First-Shots" program one Saturday month. It is exactly what the title implies, a "First-Shots" class for true beginning shooters. It is entirely free of charge to the students and literally a blast to teach.

I've been a sponsor of the Friends of the NRA banquets for the past 6 years, and a committee member for 4 years.

I write and call my elected representatives on every occasion regarding my 2nd amendment rights.

I'm doing my best to hold up my end but this is not a one-man job. We need many many more vocal ambassadors for the 2nd amendment.

A little History lesson so we don't forget

The resulting Nazi influence was not going to be forfeited once given power. The Nazi party identified political enemies and made it clear that the Weimar Republic and representative parliament, was taken by in 1933. In the year preceding that, 84 year old President Paul Von Hindenburg was set to retire, yet saw Hitler as the imminent dictator had long been developing a scheme to overthrow the elected parliament. Hitler's rising popularity prompted the Conservatives to unite around to prevent Hitler from taking office. Hindenburg regretfully agreed. Although Hindenburg defeated Hitler in 1932, Hindenburg's declining health provided opportunity for the Nazis to plan a dictatorial regime. With the rising threat of the Communist Party, Hitler and Nazi leaders planned behind the scenes to take out both the Parliament and the counter-revolution. In order to gain forcible power, Hitler to take a Unilateral police response to any event. Hitler and the Nazi's were able to shift power and rid their biggest political enemy after Hitler issued the Reichstag Fire Decree. This decree suspended all rights under the Weimar Constitution. Subsequently, after the death of President Paul von Hindenburg in 1934, Hitler had already given himself power to be a totalitarian regime. After the Enabling Act, Hitler was legally allowed to write laws, rendering the parliament useless.
By 1938, the Communists threat was essentially eliminated. However, preparing for his invasion of Poland, Hitler needed to draw up illusion of an imminent threat to justify the actual initiation of a war. Hitler and the Nazi's decided to draw up a gun law that would only apply to the new qualified "citizen". In 1935, Jewish residents were no longer considered citizens, and thus gave the precedent for new laws to prevent any resistance. The gun control provisions under the 1938 German Weapons Act, which superseded the 1928 law. As under the 1928 law, ONLY citizens were required to have a permit to carry a firearm and a separate permit to acquire a firearm. Furthermore, the law restricted ownership of firearms to "...persons whose trustworthiness is not in question and who can show a need for a (gun) permit." Under the new law,

    • Gun restriction laws applied to all guns and ammunition. The 1938 revisions introduced restrictions specifically reiterating the prohibition for Jews to hold firearms, but made it easier for one party nazi regime to gain acquisition and transfer of rifles and shotguns, as was the possession of ammunition."[4]
    • The legal age at which guns could be purchased was lowered from 20 to 18.[5]
    • Permits were valid for three years, rather than one year.[5]
    • The groups of people who were exempt from the acquisition permit requirement expanded. Holders of annual hunting permits, government workers, and NSDAP members were no longer subject to gun ownership restrictions. Prior to the 1938 law, only officials of the central government, the states, and employees of the German Reichsbahn Railways were exempted.[4]
    • Jews were forbidden from the manufacturing or dealing of firearms and ammunition.[4]
Under both the 1928 and 1938 acts, gun manufacturers and dealers were required to maintain records with information about who purchased guns and the guns' serial numbers. These records were to be delivered to a police authority for inspection at the end of each year.
On November 11, 1938, the Minister of the Interior, Wilhelm Frick, promulgated Regulations Against Jews' Possession of Weapons. This regulation effectively deprived all Jews living in those locations of the right to possess firearms or other weapons.[6][7]
