Traveling back and forth on I65 between Indy and Lafayette for several years I've noticed in the older fencing along both sides there are blue plastic strips occasionally, usually in the shape of a cross or a T. The strips look to be about 2-3 feet long. They are not placed at any particular distance or logical sequence. They've been there for at least 15-20 years minimum I think and I've seen them on parts of I70 also and south of Indy to Louisville.

Anyone have an idea of what these are for? It's driven me nuts for years wondering.

Actually I believe they mark drainage grates etc. if my memory serves correctly. When the roadsides are mowed, the mowers can see where there are obstructions.

Thats the best idea I've ever came across and would make perfect sense! Thanks for the input!

I know it's a stupid question but I hate not knowing what something's for!
