This is what BBI's has stated during a training class. A good portion of bad guys will run away at the first sign of serious force. All 3 perps had guns but were to scared to use them.

Not scared to uses them (because they very well may have used them on the family if everything went as they planned)...they lacked to mindset to follow through, once they met opposition.
