OK... I know if I'm doing a show down in Ohio and I purchase a handgun from a FFL dealer... the dealer has to send it to my local FFL for transfer.

The last show, I passed up sweet deal on a FTF because I didn't know the appropriate/ legal way to do it..

Here in Mi... all handguns need to be registered with the county sheriff's dept. (if you don't have an CPL/ccw you also need a purchase permit)

    I do have my CPL...

Bottom line question I guess is:
Can I buy a handgun in Ohio and take it direct to my Sheriffs office to be registered in Michigan legaly?

If no.. how do I facilitate a FTF sale out of Ohio????

Thanks in advance for any insight....

FYI, LONG guns are handled differently than handguns.

Long guns CAN be transferred by an FFL in either the buyer or seller's state...provided that those two states share a common border.

But it still must go through an FFL.

Selling colt 380 Indiana to Ohio-

I am trying to sell a Colt 380 Mustang plus II Handgun with several boxes of ammo. I live in Indiana and the potential buyer lives in Ohio. Any suggestions on the best way to complete this transaction is appreciated. I was hoping someone in Indiana would buy it- not sure the smoothest way to do this.

To sell a handgun to an ohio resident you would have to ship the gun to an FFL in ohio who will process the transfer to the end buyer. Some FFL's will not accept shipments from non FFL holders (although it is legal) so make sure before you send it.
