    I really don't want this to turn into one of "those" threads. But this really pizzez me off. Former Chicago police Cmdr Jon Burge, gets sentenced to 4 1/2 years in prison for lying about his knowledge of torture, and gets to keep his $3000/month pension. That's just freakin' wrong. There's an interesting paragraph at the end of the article about a similar ruling for a Chicago fire dept Lt. convicted of arson. Only in Chicago.

    Look at how the vote broke down... the blue shield for sure.

    It's hard to explain away a vote like this... it's blatant. Half of the pension board is the wolf watching the hen house.

    Interesting that there are eight members of the board - four active LEOs and four non-LEOs. Wouldn't you want a ninth person as a tie breaker? On the surface it seems like rather than one board there are two voting blocs.
