    Don't like, that 1-6 , I wish for a target dot it's out there I will find it

    These are some stellar scopes. Probably a 1-4 in your stated price point but crystal clear glass and a quick reticle.

    How much does one have to spend to minimize the risk of scope failure?

    Sightron ExacTrac (SII or above, generally, but they are very specific about NOT mentioning ExacTrac if a scope doesn't have it;

    Leupold M8 Friction;

    Weaver Steel Micro-Trac.

    Those are my answers to that, if budget is of concern, and TARGET is the goal,

    Target here being defines by dialing elevations and windages correctly, repetitively, and with patently reliable hold of the reticle.

    Attention to detail, and testing and evaluation of their sighting systems is one difference between those that win consistently, and.. well, everybody that isn't.

    Go to Eurooptic's website and filter by 6x max magnification. Every scope shows reticles.

    For that matter, when I was searching for a 1-6x every link I saved shows the reticle options and those links were directly to the manufacturers (10 of them).

    Out of curiosity what brands were you looking at that didn't show them?

    M8 friction seem to be durable, Ive had several.
    They are a bit funky to zero.
    FWIW used em as a "set and forget", no dialing for distance.

    The old M8 6X w AO was a Hunter's Benchrest model and looked sharp.
    Burris made a similar scope.

    BTW 6X is about it for me hunting tree rats offhand. And nowadays I'd just shoots reds.
    Leave the grey and fox alone.
