    I'll be traveling to Virginia in a week to see some family. Anybody know of any legal issues with me purchasing a long gun while there - person-to-person sale, not retail - and transporting it back? Thanks for the info.

    Actually, I believe you are OK to buy a long gun in any state. Used to be just bordering states in Indiana, but the laws have changed. You should be good to go. The law is completely different for handguns, though.
