I bought this one at a pawn shop, one of the best deals I ever got. Its an original Detonics Scoremaster target pistol. There were hand built/fitted factory guns and I got it for a steal.

I've bought a bunch from only one shop, in Indy. As far as pitfalls concerning the gun, none at all. Some were not in perfect condition, but the price always reflected that. Keep in mind that in most pawn shops, the marked price is usually VERY negotiable. Of course that depends on how long the shop has had the gun in stock.

My brother got a real nice mauser from a local pawn shop, for a great price. My advice would be to know have kind of an idea of what you like and what there going for. Or go look at the pawn shops and if you see something you like go back home do some reaserch and maybe go back an make an offer:yesway:

It helps if you can read their codes, to know how much they have in it. The code will be at or near the bottom of the tag Cash America has MREEE, or AYEEE.

They put the extra e's, or 0's for the prices $130.00, or 50.00 if it says LEEE and its a small something it's probably $50, if it's a car, might be $500.00, or $5000.00. If it's been in there awhile and you see they paid $75 and they want $200 offer them $100, they might take it

I scored a custom made .35 whelen a few years ago
for the cost of the scope.
Being custom, the manager was unable to locate it's value in his available books.
Weird turn of events days later caused me to bump into the original owner.
