that is an excellent choice in pistol you have there.

    congrats.

    Thanks!

    Welcome to the m&p club!

I have found the m&p to be very durable and accurate. It is a great weapon platform with (IMHO) a grip that feels much better than a glock, and a simple breakdown. And as stated above, APEX tactical make various parts for the m&p. I'm running the APEX forward set sear and tactical trigger kit and love it.

    Congrats! :rockwoot:

I want to get used to the stock trigger and break that in to see how it ends up feeling but I've heard/read a lot of praise regarding the APEX parts.

I love the S&W M&P series of pistols. They have a slide stop on both sides, mag release can be switched for left hand shooters, doesn't require you pulling the trigger to clean, and has the best trigger upgrades available. Fantastic weapon, quickly becoming my favorite gun. I like the .45 version.

I have a feeling that if I end up liking the 9, the .45 could potentially be in my future. :D

Congratulations. Good gun. I have the 9 and the 45. I like 'em a lot.

Thanks. You have a preference between the two?

Congrats! they are great guns! I own two of them rite now plan on buying another!

    Make it three-for-three. :yesway:

Congrats on a good choice. I went the M&P route a couple of years ago and haven't looked back.

Seems like lots of folks are giving them a try. I kinda like everything.

Congrats on the pickup. And as always, a big +1 to Beech Grove Firearms.

That was my first trip to BGF. I'll be back.

I own a couple... good guns. Wouldnt trade em for any other. :)

I also picked a M&P yesterday, Bob (PSS) gave me a great deal.

I chose the M&P9 Pro in duo tone. I got this specifically as a range gun, I'm not going to give up my carry gun, a Glock 22. Just wanted to make a point that even though I purchased a M&P I'm not part of the exodus from Glock. ;)

I had wanted a M&P for a long time. The fit and finish of S&W in general and the feel of the M&P specifically drew me in. What I really like about the Pro is the 5 inch barrel, fiber optic front sight, and the interchangeable back straps. I'm anxious to get to the range and break this gun in.

I was fully aware of the trigger before purchasing. The trigger did not prevent me from purchasing, but one thing that detracts from the M&P model is defiantly the trigger. I understand it has the upgraded sear but the trigger is gritty out of the box and the reset although present is hard to detect. I took it apart as I do with any new gun I buy and cleaned it, then worked the trigger. It smoothed out pretty well.

I hope after some live fire that the trigger works in. The reset I can work with, but wish it was more distinct. Not a fan of purchasing a new gun and feeling the need to put aftermarket parts into it right off the bat. I don't understand why S&W designed such an anemic reset on these pistols.

LOVE the M&P's. I have 2 in 9mm. To whoever posted the modified backstraps...How are they doing that stippling? Are they making new ones from scratch, using heat to modify existing ones, I'm dying to know this. I have a die of sorts to tinker with making modified ones but after making it I have hit a wall as to how to proceed, plus I promptly ran out of time to mess with it.

I've shot my FIL's .40 and liked it enough to want to make the .45 my first plastic gun in that caliber. This one had a very smooth trigger so I suspect its had some work done or plenty of action. I didn't notice the reset, but I wasn't looking for it. Glad to hear all of the positive reports on this pistol.

I just held my first M&P this weekend. What is a good price for one? The one I was drooling over had the night sights, threaded barrel and came with two mags for $569. I dont know enough about them to know if it is a good price.

The one guy that is stippling them just orders the OEM backstraps in bulk and does it by hand. I don't know what he is using to melt the little marks. Apparently he works on them in his spare time while watching TV or whatever. The work is very good, very consistent.

The Milwaukee Grip is some type of coating.
