Pistol Bayonet? Whats the point?

I was looking through some ka-bar knives and saw a pistol bayonet. I was wondering the point of having one and if anyone actually uses one for home defense or a secondary weapon.

It's not a knife. It's a mouth spike. Makes follow up shots to the head almost a sure thing.
