Place to Buy Rabbits - Californians or New Zealands

Our rabbit cages arrive from Bass on Monday, so we're on the hunt for a rabbit seller. Looking specifically for meat rabbits, Californians or New Zealands. Can't find a place near Indy to purchase any. Tried Craigslist, want to inspect the animals for disease, etc before purchasing. Prefer not to purchase online if possible.

Looking for 1 buck and 4 does. Prefer them to be 6 mo's +/breeding age. Anyone have any ideas?

Contact your local 4H group. They should be able to put you in touch with some breeders. If you have kids and they're going to be helping out, then get them in 4H. It'll be a big help and a great activity for them and you.

Eli Creek Farm in Connersville raises meat rabbits and sells them at Indy framers markets. They are delicious! It may be worth contacting them.

Also can look into the brederes section of the ARBA american rabbit breeders association. American Chinchillas and American blues are also decent meat bunnys. I raise them to be different and help keep old breeds alive. Richardsons Rabbitry sell the chinchillas in bloomington IN. I cant recomend the lady I got the american blues from, but can the breed she litters 8-9 usually and is a good mother. Mine make 5lbs in 12 weeks feeding manna gro feed from rural king.
