I'm not opposed to gambling. If you want to do the equivelant of throwing your money on the burn pile, you're more than welcome to do so. Many of these anti gambling laws were made because the people believed gambling to be a "sin". But somehow the government doesn't think it's a sin to gamble so long as the government is the one running it.
I ride my motorcycle all over Indiana. A couple years ago, I took a ride along the river from Lawrenceburg to Madison. One of the biggest things I noticed is that on the Indiana side, we had casinos. All of the smoke stacks of industry was on the Kentucky side. Our local and state governments want casinos to bring in that short term revenue to keep the government afloat and they are flushing the future of our economy down the toilet. Casinos don't create wealth at all, they confiscate it.
If we are allowed to gamble in the privacy of our homes, who's going to go the casinos to give the government their cut?
