?The Workers Should Take Over the Factory!?: Newly-Elected Socialist Has Some Radical Ideas for Seattle | TheBlaze.com

Newly elected Socialist (no joke, was elected as a member of the Socialist Party) in Seattle, WA (I know....surprise, surprise, surprise...) speaking at a union gathering, talking about Boeing's proposed deal to build 777X jets at the Everett facility. In return for building there for next 8 yrs, Boeing would get to reduce some union pensions.

Ms. Socialist taking a few pages directly from Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged involving the 20th Century Motor Corporation (They decided to run a pure democratic shop for the good of the workers. Needless to say, people took advantage of each other and the company quickly failed. Go read it, it's a good book and shows some scary parallels to current events.)

Small quote from the article here that says it all.
If Boeing tries to move out, Sawant said, union workers should simply take over the Everett airplane-building factory.
She referred to this as “democratic ownership.”
“The only response we can have if Boeing executives do not agree to keep the plant here is for the machinists to say the machines are here, the workers are here, we will do the job, we don’t need the executives. The executives don’t do the work, the machinists do,” she said.
She said that once workers take over the plant, they should start building things everyone can use.
“We can re-tool the machines to produce mass transit like buses, instead of destructive, you know, war machines,” she told KIRO-TV.

    This stuff is just scary....

There must be something really bad in "sea air", it makes people nuts. We should do a study.

You ever wish "The Big One" would hit and all that beach front property would slide into the sea? Pretty much goes for both coasts IMHO

Not surprising an avowed socialist would define property theft as democracy. Workers have the right to withhold their labor (and deal with the consequences, such as being fired), but taking other people's property is mob action and criminal, not democracy.

Relax, if this is what we're up against, we'll have won by morning.

How about the non-insane portion of the electorate in Seattle democratically takeover her position on the council?

Or Boeing could set up a 'reward' in an a lottery market for her removal.

She got elected by a simple majority. 51 percent were high or stupid. One could argue that stupid fits the bill in a blanket statement without having to out those with eyes that look like two pee-holes in the snow.

No one should be surprised that things like this are being said. Statements like these that were once unthinkable to say will become more and more commonplace and be used to inflame the victims of capitalism.

If the Indiana Republican Party wants to make a bold move, how about putting Mike Pence on a plane to Washington State right now with a Chamber of Commerce PointPoint presentation?
