    Check out the LDS (latter day saints) for their canneries. Some will sell to the public... others won't. You just have to call around. You can get bulk prices there to beat many other places! I bought whole wheat berries to stock up on for flour/bread later on if needed.

    I buy candles by the bulk at garage sales for light. Cheapest method of getting them. And I don't care if they've been lit once or twice.

    Don't forget "comfort foods" for the little ones. Dry milk for babies. Cloth diapers. Pet supplies.

    Ramen Noodle soup is extremely cheap and easy to fill a tote with and store in your basement. Would be great barter food! You can fill a large storage tote for only about $30 if you find it on sale! That's a lot of noodles!! LOL
