Protecting your investment?

Question for everyone. What of anything do you do to protect your guns from weather and wear?

I was turned on to Trewax paste. It's a clear wax that I put on my wood stocks and any metal. It really does a great job protecting finishes from scratches and weather.

I keep mine inside. Think I'm gonna get a dehumidifier for the safe, though; it's in the basement. That paste does sound interesting.

Clean often, oil well. Cleaning them is a cathartic experience and I enjoy it; so I check them often and its worked so far.

I'm old school. I just clean mine regularly, and leave a VERY light coating of oil on metal parts (and inside barrel). Never had a gun rust doing this. I do have one gun that is very rusted and needs a re-bluing, after my brother stuck it in a closet for 18 years.

Dry them off when I come in from the rain, oil 'em and use desiccant in the safe.

I've got one of these. http://www.cabelas.com/gun-safes-remington-mini-dehumidifier-3.shtml I think I will get another so I'm not recharging so often. I see them at may places that sell hunting items.

i keep all the little white poutches you get when you buy stuff and keep them in a box in the safe
