Very good artical.. its also parallels the growing hate by elites of Christianity since its beginning is impossible to deeply tied to Judaism.https://nypost.com/2020/12/09/why-the-cultural-elite-truly-despises-hanukkah/
Insightful commentary on our culture war
It seems that religion of any kind are being attacked more and more...
Well, it's not even a high holiday, so...
And starting a war on Hanukkah in NYC won't end well.
I read Sarah Prager's article that Ari cites as proof of the war - Catholic mother, Jewish father, raised Unitarian Universalist, became a lesbian - no wonder she's a hot mess. But I didn't see anywhere in the article that she says it's bad, just that she doesn't observe it (Gay Pride month is what she celebrates).
So with that, the main author, Ari Lamm, really only has a dead Christopher Hitchens to prop up in his "war against Hanukkah" - and he hated all religion.
And if Jews who don't really believe in YHHW give up their traditions, so what? I'm fine with non-Christians ignoring Xmas.
True thatOnly the ones that form the foundation of Western Civilization.
It's one thing for non-religious people to be disinterested in religious traditions, but when they actively seek to secularize society through political correctness or coercive means, I think religious people who like those traditions have a legitimate gripe. You can recognize legitimate disinterest by observing people not caring. You can recognize activism by observing people trying to make the world behave more like them.
It can lead to only one conclusion.. if they truly didn't have a insidious agenda, they would be content to live and let live... instead they are bent on stamping out Christianity and any other religion that leads to the western way of life. That is where the true agenda lies.. to stomp out this republic and religion was a common thread that bound a majority of this country together so by cutting that thread they are able to divide and weaken the moral fabric, this is closely tied with endoctrinating kids in schools to not be able to think outside the hive mind.. even worse marx, khrushcev and some others said this is exactly how they would take over America. Of course these FACT are left out but instead taught in a context of dismantling America. Believe in God or not, it was a cornerstone that made Americans belong to a brotherhood and work for something bigger than themselves.True, and America is becoming post-Christian, but the author fails to make his point.

You just missed the point. The "war on Hanukka" was presented as another example of leftist atheists undermining religion in order to dominate the country's culture--particularly since Hanukka is about a rebellion to defend freedom of religionOK, this this thread is no longer about the article and the supposed "war on Hanukkah", and now just a general Christianity is under attack, with some "socialism is bad" thrown in for good measure.
Carry on. (I certainly can't disagree, but I don't have anything to add.)
True, and America is becoming post-Christian, but the author fails to make his point.
On the Jewish calendar Hanukka is a minor holiday. Dreidels/s'vivonim are now just a way to get children engaged. The historical connection is that when the greco/syrians declared studying scripture to be a capital offense, those tops were used a cover, to say they were just gambling, if a group of soldiers came to investigate a group discussing oral lawI buddy of mine is conservative (religiously, not politically) and very observant. He said that once the kids moved out of the house, Hanukkah pretty much wasn't a thing. He keeps the High Holy Days, but doesn't spin the dreidel anymore.

TFT and Jamil spelled it out for you
