Is anyone reloading the 9x18 Makarov? I love my little E. German Mack. as a light carry gun but there is not much of a selection in serious defense loadings.

I used to reload for my Makarov. For a jacketed round I used Berry's Bullets. They still make a copper "plated" Makarov bullet (diameter .364 and weight of 95gr.) and you can get them for about $90 per 1000.

A plated bullet avoids lead fouling and lead contamination but does not have the thickness in copper that a jacketed bullet has.

    9x18 Makarov plated pistol bullets

I loaded mine with this bullet and between 3.5 and 3.9 gr. of Bullseye.
    Very accurate at 25 yards.

If you are concerned about defense, remember the Russian police and KGB both carried the Makarov for years as their main weapon of defense.

Thanks for the load data. I had not thought of a cast bullet - I think lee makes a mould for the Mack. I rarely load for pistols so I will have to get some fast powder like Bullseye.
