Been looking at a lot of 1911's for a while and stumbled ,acrosssd rhis Rock Island combo. Seems right up my alley for a cheaper but not junk, 1911. Price is right for me and the RIA 1911 seems to get good reviews in the 45ACP caliber. I own 2 other handguns and this wouldnt be my EDC, more of a range fun gun with some possible light carry. Any input, good or bad, feel free to give me advice. Thanks.

    I don't believe the combo is a 22lr, I believe it's 22 tct (or some other acronym) basically a 22 in a bottlenecked 9mm case.

Nah, its definitely a 45acp & 22lr combo in a 1911 frame. Ive also seen that 9mm/cut down 223 round combo......but anyway, the one im interested in comes with an 8 round 45 mag and a 10 round 22LR mag.

Two Different beasts being discussed here:

22 lr /45 combo is one thing - looks like you swap upper parts on it.

    22TCM/9mm combo is another.

RIA does both. 22TCM is a shortened 5.56 that does indeed use the same mags as 9mm. And you just swap barrrels.

I've got one in 45 and one in 9 mm , no experience with their 22`s. I really like both of mine.
When I get home I'll post a link to a forum with a RIA section that should have all your answers.

I like the concept of one weapon with the ability to shoot 2 different cartridges. Of the RIA 1911 offerings, I would lean towards the 9mm/22tcm just because I'm intrigued with the 22tcm cartridge.

If you are in the South - and you ever want to try one out - give me a yell..

If you're in the Indy area, Charlie the Glock guy that sometimes hangs out at USDS - NHT3 here on INGO is a good source of info on them.
