    Only having known of the man for the last six years or so, I have no clue of his past history. Was his war experience extensive? He didn't seem like the type to push his own accomplishments which is probably why I haven't heard much about this.

    Cedar, it was called the Grensoorlog, a twenty year war against communism, primarily in SouthWest Africa (Namibia) and Angola, but operations were conducted as far north as Zaire and Zambia.

    Thanks Kirk. I don't want to take this thread too far off track so I will keep my comments short. Very interesting. Though I had heard of this, I had no clue there was a connection to the Cold War.
