I would presume that most people who become presidential advisers have some kind of political resume.

What I don't like to see is people being brought back who have a resume of supporting statist policies.

Unfortunately that appears to be the goal for the last....well, longer than most of us have been around.... of these "Manchurian Candidates" we will end up having for choices.

In with the new boss... Same as the old boss. (And his cronies too.)

Have a source for that Kirk? Or are you making up news again?

    1. I don't make up news. That's the job of CBS.

    2. I would suspect professional politicos to float about to different candidates. The candidates hire them depending on their needs. I am not surprised that Romney or Paul has hired some people that worked for the Bushes.

If you are surprised by this, Ram, then you don't read the Daily Paul. Here's an example:

Do a little research on Weade during all the Bush years. He's all about big gov't Bush style. From his own website:

Beginning in 1985, Doug Wead served as an advisor to then vice president George H. W. Bush and helped organize his presidential campaign.

In March, 1987 he reported directly to the son, George W. Bush and served as the campaign liaison to constituent groups. In the general campaign he was Deputy Director of Voter Coalitions and later served as Special Assistant to the President in the Bush Senior White House.

From 1997-2000, Mr. Wead served as an informal advisor to George W. Bush in the years leading up to his election as president. TIME magazine referred to him as the man who coined the phrase "compassionate conservative in 1982."

Tate organized Pat Robertson's campaign. Robertson is a hawk who claimed to be a combat marine and got slapped down by his fellow marines. He wanted to force his views of morality on everyone, even campaigning on the burning need to ban porn. Pro liberty as long as it's a liberty he agreed with it.

OK, thank you. It appears Wead's resume is all about campaigning. Not pushing policy.

Michael Chertoff actually pushed for the TSA to use naked body scanners in airports across the country, while lining his own pockets. He was the predecessor to Janet Napolitano. :n00b:

Robertson is a hawk [...] He wanted to force his views of morality on everyone [...] Pro liberty as long as it's a liberty he agreed with it.

That describes 99% of the party. Nothing really noteworthy here about Tate, aside from he has campaign experience in the Republican Party. Again, not a policy position.

Romney is grabbing Bush's POLICY team.

The reasons? You just gave them in your attack on Romney.

Wead's big thing that no one has mentioned yet is that he exposed some private conversations that he had with Bush. I haven't listened to all of them, but the ones I heard just remind you that Bush is a human. He admitted he did some drugs but didn't want to publicly admit it because he didn't want to set a bad example for kids. YIKES!

The damning statements hooky is pointing at is that Wead and Tate are campaign organizers. Nothing that says XD Policy Wonks... And definitely not anything pointing to them being revolving door douche bags like Chertoff who leave government to get cushy no bid contracts for their own businesses and also serve as lobbyists for companies related to what you consult for...

Romney Expands Staff to Include More Establishment Elites

Romney has brought in a whole bunch more CFR members and political hacks that we could do without.

Here are a few of my favorites.

Romney Expands Staff to Include More Establishment Elites

    • Michael Chertoff: former U.S. Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS); now runs a security consulting company which employs a number of former DHS people as well as Michael Hayden (above).

    • Cofer Black: former Director of the Central Intelligence Agency’s (CIA) Counterterrorist Center during President George Bush’s first term; chaired Total Intelligence Solutions, a subsidiary of Blackwater Worldwide which was charged with hundreds of violations of federal law following a four-year investigation, was fined $42 million for those violations, but remains approved to receive government security contracts.

    • Jim Talent: former Republican Senator from Missouri; was an advisor to Romney’s presidential campaign in 2008; holds the position of distinguished fellow at the Heritage Foundation; voted for the Renewable Fuel Standard, an act that provides “incentives” and government loan guarantees to “innovative [read: green] technologies” and mandates for increased ethanol in gasoline and other interventionist measures; supported the Bush Medicare prescription drug benefit — Medicare Part D — as well as increases in the minimum wage;
