I am interested in doing a trigger job on my rifle but don't have any experience doing anything like this. Do I run the risk of losing accuracy if I do a bad trigger job? Would it be worth just having a gun smith do it? Could you recommend a trigger kit for it? Any input for this newb would be great.

Some of the rimfire forums have detailed instructions for 77/22 trigger jobs. I followed one and it helped, but the big change came when I got a Spec-Tech trigger. It was less work, too.

I put a volquartsen sear in mine, and I really like it. I dont remember exactly what the pull weights before and after were, but I believe I dropped about pounds and the got a lot more crisp. Also the volquartsen sear was an easy drop in part, I think it took all of 5 minutes to install.

You don't want your first trigger work to be done on a Ruger 77. They can never be made great but any of the drop ins will get them to good.
