Ruger Gunsite Scout Rifle sling search

I recently purchased a Ruger Gunsite Scout Rifle. While searching for a sling I came across this pic from the media days at Gunsite.

1. What kind of sling is it?

2. Is it useful? I looked at a bunch of pics and no one has it looped up.

3. Any sling recommendations?
