I now, again, have two third gen S&W semis. Both have bobbed hammers and I would like to replace them with spurred hammers. One is a 3913NL and the other is a 4013TSW. Anyone have any experience with this? Is this better left to a gunsmith? Does anyone know of any problems associated with swapping these out? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Shouldnt run into any major issues besides minor fitting provided you can detail strip the pistol. maybe some minor fitting, but most hammers are fit pretty quickly.

    they pretty much drop in..
remove mainspring and then the hammer pin can be removed..
make sure you have a picture diagram on hand to put it all back together..
i can scan one if you need one..

First I have to find a hammer that will fit. I believe the 5906 hammer will fit but was hoping someone had first hand experience that could tell me.

I got into my hammer on my 5906 and it wasn't too bad. Make sure you have a picture to go off of like someone above mentioned. And patience is key as there are some smaller part/springs in there.

Your pistols came from the factory with no hammer spur. You will not be happy with a hammer spur digging into the web of your hand.

If you are determined to mod the pistols, just send them back to S&W and they will put the incorrect hammer into them. Maybe. Call them first.

Why do you want a hammer spur anyway? If you want single action, it can be effected easily without a hammer spur.
