I've never owned a Savage but keep reading great reviews on how great they shoot right out of the box, so I ordered a Savage Model 11 Trophy Hunter Xp in .223 from Buds. It comes with the standard black resin stock and Nikon 3-9x-40 scope. What do you guys think, shoot it like it, is or buy a new laminated stock and bed the action?

    It may not need bedded.
And if testing suggests it, you can bed it in the factory plastic stock.
No need to go out and start spending more $$$ unless you want to.
But then it's usually cheaper to get the gun in the configuration you want from the start.

I have a Savage 10fp in.223, it came in the black synthetic stock. I opened up the barrel channel to make sure the barrel was free floated, filled in the checkering on the forearm and wrist areas then painted it with Krylon. Then I bedded the action using J-B Weld. There are some good videos on you-tube on how to do this. Anything you don't want bedded you fill in with pla-dough.
I got alot of the info and ideas from Savage Shooters - Home

Ok, I'll shoot it a while and see how it does. I've read the plastic stock is a little flimsy on the end but I'll give it a shot first. It's suppose to be pillar bedded and free floated from the factory so we shall see. Thanks for the responses.
