Hey, that's better than what some people found on Cheaper Than Dirt. They were selling boxes of Tulammo for nearly $70 for 50 cartridges.

wow almost 4 times what it used to be.

Only if someone is stupid enough to pay it. DON'T BUY THE INFLATED PRICED AMMO!! Let those who have choke on it and any shops pushing it fall on their faces. It is a free market and anyone can price items as they wish but its on us to let them eat it for the actions.

Exactly. If these shops price themselves out of the market and start losing business they have two choices.

    1. Shut their doors for good.
    2. Lower the price back down to something reasonable.

The high prices annoy me as well because as consumers we have done this to ourselves.

Watch gunbot.net it goes lower from time to time. Present low price is $605 per 1000 from bulk ammo. I wait until something shows up in the .3n per round neighborhood. Happens every week or two for minutes.

    Good luck.

Sometimes that good old supply and demand does strange things, and usually out of this world prices are set when supply = near zero, and demand, which seems to be insatiable, you wind up with people with asking prices that are pure stupid.

Now most people here seem smart enough to know better, but what about the firearm owner that does not know how to stop buying ammo, and must have 30,000 rounds per firearm owned? If that person pays the price, capitalism still wins even though you and I lose.

Don't like the price, don't pay it, and pray that nobody else does.

    Sad isn't it?

I don't see many suppliers or producers cutting out the middle men and offering lower prices direct to the consumer.
If the middle men couldn't buy all the ammo that the manufacturers were making then the manufacturers would be offering to sell it to other outlets and distributors. But that doesn't seem to be happening. The observable result is a shortage with plenty available only to those who are willing and able to pay.
Some folks are willing to part with some of their ammo stash to those who appear to need it and want it the most based on their willingness to pay the "war ration prices".
So the most cost conscious and poor people get left in the lurch.
That's the same way that it is for cash poor people when it comes to the high prices for food, medicine, medical care, gasoline, housing, any kind of hard goods etc...
If most folks really want to choose to buy ammo then generally they can chose to obtain all that they want.
Money is just an object that allows a person to choose to buy the scarce resources of their choice.
The world population isn't getting any smaller and there's more people living in freedom loving western style consumer societies than ever before.
When enough middle men/distributors can find suppliers/manufacturers that are flush with some ammo for sale, then maybe the prices will gradually ease down. But until then folks just need to bite the proverbial bullet and conserve their ammo. There's more buyers waiting in line for it than there is ammo available at reasonable prices, that's for sure.
It seems that some people are willing to trade ammo for hard goods that they really want to have for themselves. Maybe more folks need to come up with creative ways to offer their own goods and services either for ammo. or to earn extra money to buy the now more expensive ammo.
From what I understand, the distributors ammo prices have recently increased by at least 10% - 15% due to the annual price increase. That should also slow down the desire for some folks to buy and store as much ammo as they're used to for a little while. That might leave a little more ammo available for someone else who has been patiently waiting in line. But I doubt that reasonably priced ammo is going to just magically drop into anyone's lap anytime soon. They're going to need to hunt it down with some kind of a dog with a super nose for sniffing ammo deals.
