At least until the spotlight if off of the system and people go back to looking at something else that is shiny, and then it can be quietly turned back on... Deactivate is not dismantle.

This was silly. From the sounds of it, they setup a private wireless network throughout the city. For some dumb reason they broadcast their SSIDs and people's wireless devices tried to connect to it.

The simple way to stop that, is to not walk around with your wireless turned on or at least do not let it automatically connect to any network it sees.
