    Seeking Advice--

I missed the era of the $400 Rural King AR-15....

I"m' simply looking for a reliable, pick-up and go, rifle...
It doesn't need to be tricked out....

    Looking for the best value....

Prices have shot up with the COVID19 pandemic...And I have found myself with nothing but my Ruger 10/22.......

    Any input is much appreciated....
    Thank you All!!!

    Gratefully,
    Steve

There will be a million opinion, lol. I think most ARs out there are pretty good. I am a bit partial to PSA, as I have several, but I think the Ruger is good, the S&W M&P Sport, Stag, WIndham, are all good. I even have a Remington (Bushmaster) that is good, but you'll hear a lot of negativity about them, newer Bushmaster, and DPMS, all by Remington. Mine is an older R15 and shoots sub MOA groups with good ammo and a nice Nikon scope. My brother in law has a super cheapo DPMS and it has been run hard and never had an issue. It was a basement model with no forward assist or even a dust cover. Anyway, you've got many, many good options.

I've built some hybrids I've built, too, some with uppers from lesser known companies. They all go bang, every time. I do put quality bolts and carriers in all of them, though. If I bought a cheap rifle, I'd put a good BCG in it.

What ARs did RK usually sell?

If you aren't going to use it, it doesn't matter much.

Yes, this seems to be where we are at. It appears that patriots are all talk and bluster. Even Christians are allowing the closure of our churches.

To answer the OP, buying on the absolute lowest price is not optimal. Buy a Rock River or Smith and Wesson and you can be pretty sure it will work when you haul it out of the safe.

What does any of this have to do with christians and their churches?

Look for a lightly used Windham Bushmaster. They always made a quality product. They haven't yet attained the collector status of the Colt's.
(I have forgiven them for being uppity in the 90's.)

Then again a Colt 6920 is always a contender, but pricier.

I bought the AM-15 Optics ready for around $400 a year ago. Seems to do what it is designed to do.:ingo:

Nothing wrong with an Anderson or a Palmetto State Armory for casual shooting and keeping for self defense. Radical is another pretty good company that makes a decent entry level AR. If you want a solid gun to run hard and won't fail, you can't get any better than BCM.

If you watch the sales, PSA still has deals on a "complete" rifle minus the lower receiver.
I have seen them recently for less than $400 for the kit.
Add in a stripped PSA lower, and even with the transfer fee you're still under $500.

If you have any mechanical skills at all, and very basic tools, it's very easy to assemble an AR15 in your living room in about an hour or so.

I've got a couple of Rugers and a S&W. All have worked fine with acceptable to excellent accuracy. Be advised that the Rugers do have a few non-standard parts if you should decide to upgrade at a later date. I also don't go out and burn a case of ammo in an afternoon through my rifles but for my uses they work good.

Rifle in my bedroom has a bull barrel Radical upper and PSA lower with Rockriver National match trigger. Way less money than the last Aero I built and it also goes bang when I pull the trigger.
