All I am saying is for the same price as the "we the people" Sig you can get a Dan Wesson Heritage which is a better gun that does not offend our Lord and Savior John Moses Browning like the Sig does.

I agree with Dean. At that price range you can get more gun, but you lose some of the glitz that the special edition Sigs have. They are stout and reliable tho.

My apologies if the second picture is too exposed for some to handle.

I wish my Dad bought me a 1911 when I was 14....or anytime. Lol.

I've had good luck with both of the Sig 1911s I've had. One was a full size Scorpion and the other is a Railed Nickel. The only issue I had with either of them was the Scorpion slide would not lock back on it's own mags until after the gun was broken in. It ran fine with Wilson Combats though. The Railed Nickel has been great from day one. The slide fit has been top notch on both of mine and feel like they are running on ball bearings. The area at the top of the front strap between the checkering and trigger guard was cosmetically a bit rough on the Railed Nickel. Not enough to even show in the photo of the gun below.

While I completely agree with the recommendation for the DWs, I will say that I've had no issues with my Sig 1911s.

OK if you take the 1911 part out of the equation, are they a solid choice? Yes if it was for me Dan Wesson all the way, but it would be a surprise birthday present.

I can not knock a Sig. Too many folks have them. Love them. Run the crap out of them. Solid platform.

I have more rounds though my sig 1911, than any other. They are fantastic and I have been impressed with their customer service. I say go for it!

    That S&W is a beaut!!!

I am also a fan of yhe Dan Wessons, and I love my Silverback, but those SIG "1911s" are nice guns in their own right, even if they don't conform 100% to the 1911 design. That only matters to the purists. Your 14YO son will be out of his mind with joy. They are great guns, I say "go for it".

as much as I like sig's I wont own one of their 1911's or ar15's, for the prices sig asks for both of those platforms, i'd buy other makers first

The Sigs tend to deliver a lot for the money though. I paid a similar amount for my Sig 1911 ($900) and my Kimber Stainless Compact II ($850). The Sig came with night sights, front strap checkering, a steel MSH, extended controls, nickel boron finish and G10 grips. The Kimber needed to have night sights added ($100), has a smooth front strap, really poor finish, plastic MSH ($35) and rubber grips ($70). If I have the front strap checkered ($250) and a decent finish ($150), I just spent over $600 to bring it up to the Sig spec. My Colts have compared similarly to the Sigs in that it takes a lot more money to bring them up to the Sig spec.

No issues with my Sig Tacops. But I got a hell of a deal on gun broker. It's just a range toy. Don't see the point in buying a $1500 gun to keep in the safe and not train with.

This thread is an example of what I love about this site.
The humor that it started out with was so funny with the religious analogy between the Christ and Browning.
Then the real-life experience and testimiony about the different models mentioned here: what an education!
