Found a Kimber SIS for sale. It had a stainless slide but the frame was black. The person selling it was asking $1200.00. My question, is the gun worth this amount, and did Kimber make SIS in this configuration?

Here is a Kimber SIS in the full size, 5" barrel (or Custom) model, they also made one with a rail, plus they made a 4" and 3" barrel ones.

Yes. It has it on both sides on the slide, front and rear.

I've never seen 2 tone SIS from the factory. They have stainless slides, but were all coated to my knowledge.

My guess is it was stripped by someone, and now they're trying to pass off a bubbafied gun to you, for a hefty premium.

I would have inquired too. Those SIS models are good lookers, it's ashame the two tone is too good to be true.

From what I remember the SIS models had the slide and frame coated with the grey KimPro finish, however, you can always call Kimber to make sure they didn't do a special two-tone run for a distributor or something.

I found a post through a google search where somebody is selling one and had the slide sent to Kimber to be refinished for the two tone look and he's asking $1250. Link below for reference

Seems a bit high for a used 1911. But everything seems high to me anymore. I feel like if it was about 1100-1400 retail NIB, it should be 800-1K used. But then again, some people say I live in fantasy land.

Being done by Kimber? I wouldn't think so, but I'm not much of a collector so I haven't the slightest.
