Went to gun shop and saw a really nice Smith 5906. Counter person said it was new so I assumed a private collection nib trade in or estate sale. He said no it was put back in production by Smith. So is it true? Are they making them again? Are other 3rd gen models coming soon?

I'd say theres no way a new production 3rd gen S&W made it to an Indiana gunshop without a press release and fanfare At least the day prior to shipping

There's a run of 5906TSW's on the market for probably the last few months that were from storage. There's a thread about them on the S&W forum.

That is kinda what I thought there would be fanfare of some sort or maybe some foriegn police contract they made a new batch for and had overruns in the production but I was sure hoping the young lad was right.

Yeah this was not a tsw. No tsw or pic rail like 4006 chp guns have just a plain old 5906 with the black (mim I believe)
trigger and hammer and the later model with the more round triggerguard. But no tactical or tsw markings anywhere.

No. They only had the one but it was over 800.00 so I felt even if it was a brand new gun it was over priced.

I stated on another page S&W would probably do well re releasing the 5900,4000,1000 and 4500 series under their "Classics" banner. They've had good sales in the revolver side with that and lots of us mid 40s and up had a relationship with the 3rd gen steel frame autos at one time or another.

Well Glock brought back the P80. Maybe S&W was feeling left out and wanted to cash in on the wayback machine as well...

They need to bring back the 3913. I think there are a lot of folks who would buy a single stack metal 9mm. And think of the folks who could do an ASP conversion them nowadays (Wilson).

I love the 3913. Best single stack 9mm made IMHO. I like the Sig P225 as well, but the 3913 fit me better and I shot it better.

Not true. It was stuff found in storage and being sold off.
Gotta love gun store guys who don’t ever seem to know what they’re taking about. The one exception I found was this guy from a gun store in Richmond. He’s going through the process to get on the RPD so the gun store job is just a hobby of his thus he actually knows his stuff and is honest.
