militarize the damn border temporarily for the safety of US citizens THEN fix the root of the problem...

Two illegal behaviors - that are driven by the NEED of US citizens, must be remedied.

Either extreme criminal consequences for illegal drugs being imported AND the act of employing illegal non-citizens

OR

legalize the drugs AND put in place a working system of tempory VISAs for migrant workers.

Anything else is just scratching the scab off a cancer. We're dealing with addicts... folks addicted to drugs and businesses addicted to cheap labor. As long as addicts feel the NEED then enterprising folks with guns will work to fill the profit.

How would I know if someone is an illegal alien? My point is if we are concerned about illegals coming across the Mexican border, we shouldn't go looking for blond haired, blue eyed Aryan types should we? Common sense and political correctness don't mix very well.

In todays thinking, if in 1942 there were several defense companies burning and a division of the Wehmacht was marching around the area we would not be able to detain them. That would not be politically correct. How DARE we assume it was them just because we are at war with them, and they have red armbands with swastika's on their left arms? You cant.. Thats primarily what the AZ law is about is allowing the LEO's to ask IF they are stopped for a separate reason, not related to Immigration status...

As to the Idea about migrants and picking vegatables etc etc, it is a matter of economic impact. They get paid, money flows back to Mexico, they get sick, or their kids need to be educated etc, then it comes out of the US taxpayers pockets. (hopefully that means yours) The net paying into the system is SIGNIFICANTLY less than the amount being taken out.

Look at it this way, with secured borders, the GUBBERMENT could subsidize all those supposedly menial labor jobs to where other true immigrants or Americans would do the job. AND, save money overall in the process.

1) To say Americans wont do the jobs is stupid, because they will if it pays more than the unemployment benefits in the alternative, or if Americans are there geographically to take the job.
2) much of this is paid in cash, and therefore does nothing to the Tax base.
3) The border COULD be secured if those in Washington wanted it to be
20 ft up, 20 ft down and watch tower every 100 yards.
