Last evening leaving home for restaurant to eat a bite, a fox squirrel committed suicide by running under my motorcycle less than 50 yards from my driveway. I wanted to pick it up & go back to house to clean but wife vetoed. Was gone an hour later when came home.

I put the squirrels in the pressure cooker for 25 minutes and then quartered them, floured and seasoned them and fried them for a few minutes per side. Fried up a skillet full of potatoes and the son and I had a delicious lunch.

ScouT6a that is a beautiful flintlock. When I save up enough money I am going to head back to Lancaster to have one commissioned to hunt squirrels with.

.36 caliber Issac Haines squirrel rifle that I built a couple of years ago that quickly became my favorite squirrel rifle.

That curl in that stock is gorgeous...I always loved Haine's style flinters...He was a classy maker and all of his surviving guns are just beautiful...Very nice..

And a beautiful horn to boot!!!! Did you scrimshaw that?

Yep. It’s about that time as the summer fades and fall begins her reign for the year. Coming soon hunters will take to the woods to the notorious critter that is the squirrel. I myself will be taking the CZ to the range this week to make sure my zero is still good and wait for that cool morning that I know is coming….

Hope this year is a fun season in the woods. Last year was a great time, so I think this being my first year in the South it should be a good learning season..
