Alright, so the modified jig is working pretty well. I was able to get this after a bit of filing tonight. Need to rethink the stop for the ricasso stop guide. Maybe a 1/4" pin with a bearing on it, not sure yet, but the screw just isn't doing it. Test filed on some O1 and it's much easier to work than the Lowe's pieces I've been practicing on. Going to take a break for a few days and make the changes to the jig and let my hand rest. Plus, the taps for my keezer are here and I've got two more batches of Pumpkin Ale to make. Will cut a few blanks out of 1095 and O1 this weekend and start on them next week.

    looks awesome!

as far as the stop pin goes, is it getting chewed up by the file? can you file down the side of the file?

Cut some O-1 down to size today. 3/16" thick and approx. 10" long. I have 3 blanks for the full-size knife and 3 for an 8" version as well.

Marked them all and began the rough cutouts tonight. Hope to have all the blanks finished by this weekend so I can begin to bevel them.

Made a simple forge using some fire pit brick and a MAP torch. Heated it till it was orangish/reddish and dunked it in some veggie oil. Now to the oven with it for a hour or so.

I've got a little more shaping to do on the handle and a tad more blade polish, then I'll call it done. 9 more to go.

Thanks everyone who followed along and offered some support.

After doing this process 100% myself from start to finish (with some tips and tricks of some awesome knife makers), I have extremely deep respect for those who do this for a living. I don't have plans to ever become a full time knife maker, but at some point after I get the process refined and design improved make them in VERY limited numbers for those who won't leave me alone about it.. Maybe 1 per month.
