Starting contained fires

For the sake of fishing in the cold or at night, where is it legal/illegal to start campfires?

Obviously, private property you can do whatever you want

On .gov owned property like reservoirs though..?

This is a question for DNR, they should be able to tell you everything you need to know about the spot you are going to.

So, the follow-up question is: which property or you visiting? They all have different "designated areas".

Designated area probably means a fire pit to contain the fire ?
