Is there anything special besides a dry cool place to store ammo for long periods of time?? I want to stock up on some 9mm ammo.. it is going to most likely be JHP so wont be using it at the range. And possibly never using it but I would like it sitting here.

FWIW I have all types of ammo, from .22 rim fire, to pistol and rifle center fire, to various guage shotgun shells that are over 40 years old. They all fire w/o any issues whatsoever.

For my longer term ammo storage, I use

Military ammo cans from local surplus
Sand it to remove any rust
    Repaint/touch up if needed
Slightly oiled rubber gasket (silcone oil)
Dessicant pack (around 2" x 2" or so in size)
Cut out a stencil for caliber & round count to put on the front.
