I'm looking to purchase a 45 cal suppressor/silencer to be mostly used on a FNX-45 Tactical. I have pretty much narrowed it down to the following three based on some reviews and quotes from LGS's: Rugged Obsidian 45, Dead Air Ghost-M, and AAC Ti-Rant 45M. The suppressor I eventually choose will probably see some time on a 1911, HK 45c, and some sort of SBR PCC. Thanks for your help.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of your choices. I've got the Ti-Rant, and have been very pleased. My suggestion, is to research the price and availability of all the pistons and fixed barrel mounts you might need. All three guns you listed will likely take different mounts. The accessories can get pricey, and are sometimes difficult to find. Good luck.

Just looking at the cans you suggested I would go with the deadair if it were me. I bought an obsidian because my LGS couldn't get a Ghost, but I think I'm going to pick up a ghost also. I would go with both of those options over the AAC with my money.

Also, KJQ is correct about some of the stuff being hard to find, but from what I've seen both from rugged and deadair right now is that they are flooding things with their accessories, so if you do buy now you can start picking up your mounting accessories asap. Another thing to consider if you already own other cans or if you will own other cans is cross compatibility, for example the rugged obsidian will accept any SiCo pistons.

Not buying the wipe thing, so I have the other 2 in jail.

Paid $645 + tax for Obsidian from SS, and $635 + tax for TR45M here locally.

I have decided to go with the Rugged Obsidian can and ordered one from one of my LGS's for $625. A number of factors contributed to this decision including: piston availability like Bfish said, difficult sourcing of wipes and inexperience with their use like ljk said, and the "cutting edge design" (if you can call it that). I really wanted to avoid purchasing a "dated" model(AAC Ti-Rant, Gemtech Blackside, etc.) because I want the "newest" design since it will be with me for a long time.

Obsidian or Ghost for sure. Obsidian is quite a bit cheaper than the Ghost, plus it can use Silencerco and Griffin pistons, so that's what I went with.

Good choice in going with the newer cans. I'm sure you will be happy with your Obsidian!

Though I will say the TiRant sounded great on my MP5 with a full auto trigger pack installed. I have a Hybrid sitting in the safe at ZR Tactical. At only 13.8 ounces, it's only about 2.5 ounces heavier than my Osprey, but it's rated for full auto fire and rounds up to .45-70 (including .308 with full auto). So, if you want an all in one can, you might want to look at the SiCo Hybrid.

Oh but on the contrary - I love the look of an Osprey on a Glock/FNX series. My father already owns an Osprey 45 though and I was wanting something different plus I love suppressors that can be taken apart for cleaning. If I was only going to purchase one suppressor it would probably be the SilencerCo Hybrid, but I prefer to have a can optimized for different calibers (better size/weight ratio). I have also had great luck w/ suppressed MP5's - my father runs a Gemtech Raptor II on his and it's stupid quiet.

Call it a "cool factor" I guess in addition to possibly enhancing long term performance. I already own a Gemtech GM9 and will say that I'm impressed by how clean the monocore remains.

    Lifetime warranty on most cans

Besides having a sealed can, eliminates possibilities of somehow fubaring a baffle when it's out of the tube.

My Tirant comes apart. Eco-9 doesn't . Hybrid doesn't. I don't ever plan on taking the Tirant apart.
