A friend will be going to Louisville soon and wants to take her home gun to a range down there. She asked if it was ok even though she doesn't have her LTCH yet (she is going through the process).

I told her I wasn't certain how it would be handled and said I would ask here first. I'm not sure it's a good idea but felt I should ask as I could be wrong.

There are so many resources on this I don't know why people waste their time asking a question. Check handgunlaw.us and also Kentucky government and police websites that have firearm FAQs.

You didn't even say what kind of gun it was- there are often different laws concerning handguns and long guns.

If it's a handgun, she can carry it open. No permit is needed to open carry in Kentucky.
