    FWIW My edc is the SOG Trident Tanto and it has been fine so far if you are considering a less expensive folder.

    Coldsteel Tanto if you got the cash, I love my Coldsteel knive and they have videos to show you what your buying. They vary in length as well and are all fixed blades.

    Some of the brands I have that all make a decent tanto :
    Spyderco, Benchmade, Cold Steel, Ka-Bar, SOG, CRKT... or custom made is fun too =)

    So many good knives out there, a big part is what you want to do with it... just like firearms, different types of style and steel for different jobs...

    i like the fixed blades but not opposed to the folders
    you can get the [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Cold-Steel-Polycarbonate-Scales-Cordura/dp/B001CXLSSW"]cold steel GI tanto[/ame] for less then $30. if you check youtube you'll find that it's one of the best values for the money.

    Of course you can watch the secondary market and find one of the original US folding tantos, the one everyone copied, the Cold Steel Shinobu. This one is the largest with a 3 1/2 inch blade made from San Mai steel. Not hard to find in like new condition for around $75.

    For a folder I have the SOG trident and its a great knife. SOmething else that I have been looking into is a CRKT M-16 in a Tanto
