FWIW My edc is the SOG Trident Tanto and it has been fine so far if you are considering a less expensive folder.

I agree with FishersJohn. The SOG Trident Tanto is one of two (2) knives I use as my EDC. I use either this or even the less expensive Ka-Bar K2 Tanto.

Both are fairly inexpensive and have served me very well...

Coldsteel Tanto if you got the cash, I love my Coldsteel knive and they have videos to show you what your buying. They vary in length as well and are all fixed blades.

Some of the brands I have that all make a decent tanto :
Spyderco, Benchmade, Cold Steel, Ka-Bar, SOG, CRKT... or custom made is fun too =)

So many good knives out there, a big part is what you want to do with it... just like firearms, different types of style and steel for different jobs...

I'm with KokomoDave. Emerson is hard to beat as far as folders are concerned.

I really like Ka-bar knives myself...I have several and will have more.

Of course you can watch the secondary market and find one of the original US folding tantos, the one everyone copied, the Cold Steel Shinobu. This one is the largest with a 3 1/2 inch blade made from San Mai steel. Not hard to find in like new condition for around $75.

im a ka bar fan myself....there fixed tanto is pretty sweet but the big handle is not appealing

thats a nice knife, i like the columbia river knives, bought their sting boot knife and love it!
