Was a real life Beerman.....
Well I finally got to punch some paper today after purchasing my new Taurus 809 (9mm) from PSS and can now proudly say that I'm moving my .40 cal PT-940 to the nightstand and will use the 809 as my new carry gun.
Started off by doing a quick slide removal, clean and lube. Very simple to take down with a slight 3/16th inch slide back and tang depress and off comes the slide. Insides was clean and looking good, ran a patch and brush through the bbl to make sure all was fine inside, no residue or particles in the bbl so I put a little of my fav Montana Gun Grease on the rails and put her back together.
It comes with 3 separate backstraps so you may configure the grip to different hand sizes, which considering I have a smaller hand is great, so I made sure I had the thinnest of the 3 on there and the fit was great in my hand.
Put 120 rounds total (100 WWB 115gr FMJ & 20 CorBon 115gr JHP) through it flawlessly with not one failure to feed, fire or eject.
First 2 mags I put through it I didn't care where on the target I hit, I just wanted to make sure function was right and proceeded to empty the first mag as fast as possible and second mag with quick double taps.
After that It was more of a practice mode for me since I have had very little range time in the last year, I was very pleased with the operation and function of my new sidearm.
Trigger pull was clean and crisp on both SA and DA, and really loved how it felt, DA was a nice pull back, not to long and was not overly heavy, SA was sweet and short, but not to short.
Originally when Taurus was introducing literature about the 809 it was mention that the mags was 18 rounds, but since production started everything has stated 17. I realized two times that I put 18 in with no problems so don't know if this was design flaw or intentional.
Pic below, not the greatest groupings, but all inside the black from 35 feet. I know, why 35 feet, I'm still wondering that also. (sorry about the pic quality, had to use the old camera, the Canon Xti 400 was in the closet and wife was asleep)
