Tavor 308?

Well, I am new to the site, still trying to get used to how things work, but I couldn not help but make a post about the potential Tavor. I just wanted to know if anybody knows more information on whether IWI is coming out with one in 308?

And.. Its good to be here on the site with people who are of this caliber. I could not resist.

I've been watching and waiting for a Tavor ever since the old Charles Daly company tried to bring them in several years ago. Never have I heard any rumors of a 308 variant. Sadly.

Military Arms Channel has a full review up on youtube. There are conversions comming, but .308 (7.62) was not mentioned. With the current design, it'd be a pretty big change to make the magazine well big enough. Check out that review.

I was doing a search and keep seeing talk going on about it. But that is what it is I guess just talk. I would really love one of these in 308.

I seen that video too. 9mm and 5.45 x39 are the other options. Yes it would be big changes to the rifle but in my bias opinion worth it.

The problem is that the action length is not suitable for the 308 length cartridge. A total rework of the entire gun, its recoil/gas system, magazine, action would be required. On the other hand, converting from 5.56 to 9mm, 5.45x39, 6.5 Grendel, 458 Socom, etc would all be viable options because they will all fit within the current action length.
