So basically what you're saying is you don't want extra energetic firefighters?

Firefighters are the real heroes. Fat people aren't going to put themselves back in the bed after the roll out, after all. They *need* that extra pep...

If he was a cop there would be a press release, a news conference with various elected officials, and fifteen INGO threads about it by now.
I'd like cops to not do meth either. Come to think of it, nobody doing meth would improve things. Firefighters will have to go back to bench-pressing a Volkswagen.

Maybe IFD is just trying to be more diverse by allowing this gentleman to stay on? You can’t claim you’re a diverse and inclusive organization without having people from ALL walks of life, right? It’s all about diversity these days, right?

Addiction is a mental health problem right? If you self-report and seek help I'm guessing you are good as long as monitored.

The felon in possession of a gun may be an issue though, or whatever he was disqualified for.
From what I hear this isn't the first incident. And if you have an addiction to a drug such as Meth, do you really need to continue to work while going through treatment? I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure being high on Meth would severely affect your ability to be an effective firefighter.

From the videos I’ve seen of meth heads, I’m betting he wouldn’t need a suit or ladder.

That's the rub, i don't know if there's some sort of waiting period before you can come back or not. It does seem crazy
