So there is a band from Canada called The Dead South. They have a GREAT song that isnt very politically correct. Apparently the #meetoo movement is pressuring them to apologize for it. Its not awful. No swear words. But the subject is a bit taboo. Lyrics like "tore up the restraining order, I dont care Im coming over.... What your daddy said isnt going over too well. Dont you know not to kiss and tell?"

And the doozy "I guess shes my cousin, but she needs some sweet lovin anyway."

Even though there is no mention of ages or details, people are triggered about it and saying it glorifies pedophilia, incest, sexual assault, etc.

So apparently we are only supposed to write stories and songs that are politically correct and safe.

There are SO many stories in history that deal with sensitive subjects, so who knows who is next in cancel culture?

And I bet these complainers probably consider themselves quite the intellectuals.

Those banjo riffs are pretty awesome.

Used to be if we didn't like a song we just wouldn't listen to it. Jeez, if I'd known I could just ***** about a song and get it canceled I'd have canceled a lot of **** from the 1980s on. Well, let's make that earlier. Definitely would have canceled Bee Gees. And surfer music. You know. Because I don't care if you like it. If I don't like it, no one should get to. Because if you do, that means you're evil.

"In hell I'll be in good company" is another great tune of theirs.

I can't remember if it was in this thread, but I remember it being mentioned somewhere, that teachers are worried about parents watching the online lessons, and finding out what is being taught.

One school system seems to have come up with a solution.
Parents must sign a form stating they will not watch or record their child's lessons.

My childs school is operating online. If I can audit the live classroom, I can audit the online classroom.

If the district can, and is, recording all online activity, including video, audio, and chat, that is occurring inside my home, I will also take those liberties to record any such online activity, that is occurring inside my home.

I will not sign, or agree to, any such agreements that have been mentioned in these other school districts.

Well, the one school district mentioned was California. Where too many people don't question authority.
Well, I guess it depends on the "questioning".

    Wait, what?

Yeah... I discovered that by doing exactly what the above mentioned school district in the video forbids you from doing.....sitting in on the class.

It's been a topic of concern in our house since online learning began.

The district issued laptops (preconfigured for each students needs/classes) to each student. Any "in person" class meeting, held thru Teams, is video/audio recorded, the sidebar chat as well.

We've given our student instructions on when/how the school computer gets used, and have made the area it's used in as "sterile" as we can. It's connected to its own restricted vlan on our network as well.

Obviously the district has full control over the machine, whether we like it, or not, but I can at least limit the time it's available to them, and will continue to audit/monitor the classes as I see fit.

Why on earth would an apology be enough? Serious damage is being done to these children.

“The last thing we want is for our young people to be scared to talk to us or confide in us,” he explained.

Gamaldi said although he received an apology from the district, he was concerned the negative depiction of police officers would be forever in the student’s minds.

    I haven't seen this discussed yet: https://www.bu.edu/articles/2020/jack-dorsey-bu-center-for-antiracist-research-gift/

"Twitter and Square cofounder and CEO Jack Dorsey has donated $10 million to Boston University’s Center for Antiracist Research, just six weeks after it was launched by leading scholar Ibram X. Kendi.
    . . .
Among the plans of the Center for Antiracist Research is to continue expanding its COVID Racial Data Tracker into the Racial Data Tracker (RDT), with a goal of becoming the nation’s largest online repository of racial inequity data in every sector of society, from wealth to health. The RDT will track, visualize, and analyze racial inequities, while also training generations of racial data scientists. Data from the RDT will help provide policymakers, media outlets, and everyday citizens with racial data relevant to the places where they live and work."

Dr. Kendi has advocated for a Department of Antiracism: https://www.politico.com/interactiv...pass-an-anti-racist-constitutional-amendment/
"The amendment would make unconstitutional racial inequity over a certain threshold, as well as racist ideas by public officials (with “racist ideas” and “public official” clearly defined). It would establish and permanently fund the Department of Anti-racism (DOA) comprised of formally trained experts on racism and no political appointees. The DOA would be responsible for preclearing all local, state and federal public policies to ensure they won’t yield racial inequity, monitor those policies, investigate private racist policies when racial inequity surfaces, and monitor public officials for expressions of racist ideas. The DOA would be empowered with disciplinary tools to wield over and against policymakers and public officials who do not voluntarily change their racist policy and ideas."

The entire rule of law would be held hostage by unelected, and publicly unaccountable, ideologically fueled bureaucrats

Dr. Kendi's position is that the only way to combat racist discrimination is antiracist discrimination - discrimination that would produce equity.

Well, in all fairness, she is correct. Where she’s wrong is it’s not the people she’s accusing. It’s the people who are beating people up for wearing a hat, trying to shut down speech they disagree with, attempting to cease firearms, and burning down cities. But sure, accuse the guy that says mean things of being a nazi
