That’s not even a fair analogy. If there was competition I would not have a problem with Comcast throttling a competing service. But because they are allowed a monopoly over entire regions, that requires some different rules.

I thought what we were talking about was much more narrowly focused, the case where a business structures their marketing to maximize the competitiveness of a service they already offer, rather than the much wider concern about whether effective competition exists in the ISP marketplace

Good luck pursuing some kind of United States v AT&T when there are multiple ISPs and not a monolithic target

33 year old California man has been arrested on charges of threatening to kill the family of FFC Chairman Ajit Pai.

    That's it? Just him?

Pretty sure Reddit was full of users wanting him and his family dead. Encouraged, even.

Well, that’s actually An apples to oranges comparison.

NN concern wasn’t about raw speeds to the consumer by the ISPs. It was about content providers like Netflix being harmed by the carriers by throttling their traffic to the benefit of the carriers’ competing services.

This is headline is like saying “you were afraid that gun violence would increase if a law was passed. Well the law passed and more guns were sold.” It wasn’t about sales it was about murders. In both cases, the quoted outcome wasnt a concern of the original problem (NN/speed, murders/sales.)

If the service provided by the ISP is competitive in all respects (content, pricing etc) and you are still allowed to choose Netflix but Netflix has to pay to play and not just free ride on the system, I fail to see how you are harmed

If the level playing field price for equal products settles out higher, consider yourself lucky the free ride lasted as long as it did. Netflix didn't build anything, they're a parasite

Man who threatened to kill Ajit Pai’s children pleads guilty, faces prison

"'I will find your children and kill them,' man wrote after net neutrality repeal."

"faces up to 10 years in prison when he is sentenced Dec. 7"

"Man's attorney asked the court to release him pending sentencing, saying he 'is not a danger or a flight risk.'"

    To which the gummint replied:

"Yet, threatening to murder the children of a federal official for purposes of intimidation, interference, and retaliation is a crime of violence for which detention pending sentencing is mandatory unless exceptional reasons for release are established by clear and convincing evidence."

Yeah but he was just trying to keep the internet from being destroyed. We didn't listen to him and NOW look what's happened.
