The illness of the Tree of Liberty is the attack on the roots by the Donkeypox/Rhinopox. The dual action mode of attack leaves the tree in a weakened state unable to fight off any outside influence that may attack.
The Rhinopox variant is especially devastating due to it's ability to mimic liberty loving growth but historical evidence suggest that this variant is more destructive due to it's love of power and money. The willingness of this "pox" variety is somewhat subtle at first but the aggressive nature to quickly cast off the outer covering, revealing a more sinister nature of war mongering, money loving nature often finds it aligning itself with the Donkeypox.
Much like the tree, elements must be cast off for the survival of the tree.
Clear evidence suggest that the origin of replication is Washington, DC. The tree must isolate itself from this center if it is to survive.
Otherwise, the flames of history stand ready to consume it much like the predecessor, the Roman Republic. It too died due to an internal virus before other external forces attacked and consumed it.
