I really don't need to clarify my point of action. Most of you have already stamped the anti-christ sticker on me. I can't blame you for that, at least not directly. So, democrat this...republican that...what is the real deal of this stimulus talk? Tax credits? Anti-Obama rhetoric? Let's believe FOX news? Shout it out! I'm not a troll, I do care...just because you don't believe my political views? Well.....:dunno:

    I don't understand your post/question either.

But here is my take on "stimulus". Nothing will get better until the American public start buying stuff. Government can do nothing but interfere with that natural process.

The 800 billion "stimulus" plan that just passed will do nothing but delay that magical day when common folks start buying "stuff" and restore the economy.

Giving money to corporations and banks does not get folks to spend money, it only temporarily props up those enterprises until (hopefully) folks start buying their stuff again.

Is this the point of your post?

Just wanting to know because us hard right Bible thumpers can't believe in karma you know.) . I can't blame you for that, at least not directly (who can we blame?) . So, democrat this...republican that...what is the real deal of this stimulus talk? Tax credits? Anti-Obama rhetoric? Let's believe FOX news? Shout it out! RTBF, it's funny you mention Fox News, when the Demographics of those who watch that channel are the most diverse mix of any network.... which would explain the ratings:

Cable News Nielsen TV Ratings for Thursday, February 12; Fox News, CNN, Headline News, MSNBC, CNBC, FOX & Friends, American Morning, Morning Joe, Squawk Box, Morning Express w/ Meade, Special Report with Brit Hume, Situation Room, Race for the White

Fair and Balanced in both format AND audience.

Now, do you think we need a Fairness Doctrine across ALL media formats? Or just talk radio?

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say the highlighted part is the question he wants answered. IOW, why are we so excited about it and so against it?

My opinion (since I haven't read the bill directly and only have the dozen or so news reports I've read on it):
    1) It's amount changes daily, but let's just say it's hit ONE TRILLION DOLLARS. That's a hefty bill. I understand that for the annual budget a million dollars is like $100 for us normal people, but this isn't millions. This is trillions.
    2) To make up that trillion dollars, it's stuffed full of things that look more like pet projects than actually stimulating the economy. Want to start the road to socialized health care? I'm not crazy about the idea, but fine. Whatever. Put your computerized medical records in a SEPARATE bill. How does computerizing medical records stimulate the economy? The data input might create a few jobs, but what happens when that initial data entry is done? Are doctors and nurses supposed to become more efficient? Would we still need medical records librarians? Would a paper mill suffer from the sudden lack of medical form needs? (extreme examples, but you see where I'm going with this... it's primary purpose is NOT to stimulate the economy.)
    3) Most people are AGAINST the stimulus bill, and yet our politicians are STILL debating it. If 80% of the people don't want it, shouldn't it be accurate that approximately 80% of our politicians don't want it, too? What happened to our congressmen representing WE the PEOPLE?

I think THAT is what everyone is so upset about. That's what *I* am upset about anyway.

    1) Why does it cost so much?
    2) How do those "whys" actually stimulate the economy, and if they don't, why aren't they a separate bill?
    3) Why aren't the politicians acting on behalf of the People?

    1) Socialism ain't cheap.
2)They don't, of course. Separate bill? We're in a panic right now supposedly. Can't let a good crisis go to waste.;)
    3)Arrogance, ignorance, and greed.

Well, Pami tried at least. Good try Pami! :D

It was a good thread starter, kinda, sorta, but coming from RTBF, it kinda put a whole nix on the thread...

I think the so-called "stimulus" legislation and the uproar surrounding it are a calculated and deliberate distraction tactic. I think the motive is to distract all of us from the real agenda items that are being enacted (e.g. a plethora of executive orders already implemented or imminent, such as dropping the charges against the mastermind of the terrorist bombing of the USS Cole).

It's equally clever, disgusting, shameful, unethical, and immoral all at the same time.

It's kind of like the current president has sent someone to set fire to the bushes in front of your house. Naturally, you'll run outside, get your hose, and fight the fire. While you're trying to extinguish those flames, someone else is under your house in the crawlspace removing all of the copper wiring and plumbing from your home. Eventually the fire will be extinguished, and your front yard is scorched and ruined, even though you did everything you could with your puny garden hose to stop it. Then when you go inside, you don't have any power or water because all of your copper bits were stolen while you were distracted.

And the beauty is, even if they don't get all the wiring and pipes from your house, they've still laid waste to your front yard, so it's a win-win scenario for some very bad people.

Last time I engaged this guy in a political/economics thread, he told me I didn't know what communism is.

I always sort of felt like living in the USSR, going to school there, walking past the Lubyanka every day, and making friends with folks who lived under the threat of Gulag gave me a pretty solid basis in personal experience to know what communism is, and not to like it very much.

However, I guess he learned what communism was from a leftist-utopian-wannabe-commie professor in freshman poli sci, so I just don't feel qualified to enter into discussions with him any more.

If you read this kid's previous posts, you will find that he is 95% inflammatory. He will post the most leftist ravings and will rarely ever follow up on his posts.

To say he is a firearms enthusiast would be a stretch of epic proportions.
